American Ships and Aircraft

Ships

Commanded by Admiral Chester Nimitz, the US Navy's primary carriers for the Pacific fleet were the USS Enterprise and USS Yorktown during the battle of Midway. The USS Enterprise was one of the only pre-war carriers to survive WWII. The USS Yorktown did not survive World War II, as it was sunk two days after the major fighting ended at Midway.

Aircraft

There were two major aircraft in the Battle of Midway for the United States, the Douglass TBD Devastator and the Douglass SBD Dauntless, the more effective of the two  during the war. The Douglass TBD Devastator was an American-made torpedo bomber that became the primary torpedo bomber for the US before WWII broke out. The Douglass SBD Dauntless was the premier dive bomber for the time, becoming mainstream in 1942 it was sophisticated and very effective.
